Tech Note | label: Empress Valley Supreme Disc (EVSD-207)
Presented in a single jewel case with a luxury glossy card booklet containing a complete 15th review by Hamish Rook in Japanese and English with exclusive photos from the shows on the covers. The title appears to have been formed from comments at the Leicester gig the week previous when "the kids were having a gas". The complete late afternoon show is presented first, even though Plant announces "Good evening". Sound is excellent and very clear with an outstanding You Shook Me and great intro to old style Communication Breakdown, A short killer set. The 2nd show at Brondby cuts out after another brilliant You Shook Me and is missing White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Pat's Delight and How Many More Times. Sound is Excellent to very good. This was not excessively priced by EVSD and if you're a 1969 fan then good value as these early shows showcased the rising Led Zeppelin in all their improvisational glory. As an aside, the notes mention the heavy machinery of Zeppelin's rythm section, which no doubt inspired the title of the next EVSD release from Nancy, France in 1973. (The VLH Dec 02)
