Comment | Pink Floyd - Live Animals
This consists of the Animals portion of the last stop on the 1977 tour, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The sound quality is very good, and the performance itself is legendary not only for the quality but also for the incidents which occurred. Sometime during the show, Roger spat on a riotous fan who attempted to climb on stage. People were letting off fireworks, screaming and shouting throughout the show, and Roger had had enough. He lost it and let the crowd know what he thought. This performance was one of the main inspirations for Pink Floyd's next masterpiece, "The Wall," which was written from Roger's view about the feeling of isolation he had with the crowds of the recent tours, played in bigger venues for bigger dollar signs. He thought Pink Floyd had sold out. This feeling of his is what eventually led to the breakup of Pink Floyd in the mid-1980s, and to the feelings of Roger toward the rest of the group when they decided to carry on without Roger and go back to playing in football stadiums, for only one reason Roger and many of us could see - money. This performance includes: Pigs on the Wing (complete version with Snowy White link-up, originally only available on the 8-track release. It is here in CD quality). Dogs (over 20 minutes long!) Pigs (nearly 20 minutes) Sheep Pigs on the Wing Part Two (where Roger loses it) Great sound quality, amazing performance, historic night. A must-have.
