Here are Bill's notes: "I've played with this. Problem is stoned man on vol and pan controls - Weir's guitar which is the main offender in the variable volume stakes moves from right to left early on, then gets cranked up during Garcia's solo and at various other points..... So I've done what I can to moderate the extremes of channel volume fluctuations, but I've left Weir's guitar still quite high in the mix, as that seems more faithful to this recording. Given that Weir seems to speed up the tempo during the song, one can assume that he was playing with extra bounce :)) " |
