Background on these LPs:
These 2 LPs were release without explicit permission from the Dead.Producer Robert Cohen (a bit more on Mr. Cohen here: http://www.lumiereprod.com/history.html) got the masters from recordingsmade at the Avalon, adding applause and other sounds where needed to helpthe flow (there is a bit of audio, a small segment with some mostlyinaudible band chatter, which was added to "extend" tracks so theywouldn't end so abruptly. The same segment used in a couple of differentspots, once as a loop that repeats 2-3 times). Some of the songs have cutintros, but are segued with applause anyway. These are pretty muchbootleg quality from today's perspective, and frankly most interest inthese LPs is because of their status as collectibles rather than beingworthwhile musically. But fans of the early days will especially enjoythe lengthy workouts of "Midnight Hour", "The Same Thing" and "GoodMorning Little Schoolgirl".

Footnote: An LP released in 1973, "The History Of The Grateful Dead"(Pride/MGM PRD-0016), compiled the following tracks from the SunflowerLPs: Dancin' In The Street, It's All Over Now, Baby Blue, I Know YouRider, In The Midnight Hour, It Hurts Me Too, Lindy and Stealin'. Therewas also an official release on Warners released in 1973 with virtuallythe same title (subtitled "Bear's Choice", as we all know), so the PrideLP couldn't have been very welcome at that time.
