The Riviera, Chicago, IL I: Back on the Train, Farmhouse, Josie Wales, Sample, Driver, Snowflakes, Brian and Robert, When the Circus Comes, Mountains, PYITE > Runaway Jim II: First Tube, Circles, Jibboo, Heavy Things, Tops Off > I Can See Clearly, Sand, Aqui Como Alla, Ooh Child > Jam, Somanatin, Windora Bug, Come On (Part 1) E: Silicon Fairy The crowd was a little more raucous than in Indy, but Trey delivered a great performance nonetheless. The acoustic PYITE was fun. Trey attempted to whistle the Landlady portion of the song, trying to hold back the laughter. It was hilarious. - Jeff Trinco The Riviera was a throwdown. Trey just unloaded! I wish I could send everyone who likes Phish back in time to one of these Trey tour shows. It reminded me of earlier Phish shows, at least the intimacy of the event, and the band sounded like a polished 8' Fluorescent Tubes. It's nice to hear Trey with elbow room and a superb band to back him. If you like Phish's newer material, get some Trey tour tapes for a glimpse of how an original idea blossomed into a well-crafted new style of music for the boys the following summer. - Aaron Goldfeder |
