Tech Notelabel: Flying disc CD 6 - 807 got from almightyzeppeli at sharing the groove. Conceirning the source info: _____________________________________ Re: conversion Not all of my SHNs come from silvers. Some are from discs I acquired in trade. All the people I trade with, though, use EAC secure and follow all the procedures of good copying...or else I don't trade with them. I can't say for sure that they're directly from the silvers, but because of the methods used to reproduce the discs, they're direct digital copies of the silvers. Thanks for your great posts grooves range-hood --------------------------------------- Dazed and Confused (cuts in at guitar work prior to bow solo), Whole Lotta Love medley(cuts in at theremin jam) Similar to this label?s Led Poisoning release in cut locations, sound, and songs presented, apart from the presence of Stairway to Heaven which is not found on this one. The sound is excellent soundboard, again with slight high end distortion accompanying the cymbals, as well as minor tape hiss. Bonham?s drum sound is again a beautiful thing to listen to, as his snare, toms, and bass drum are nicely mic?d and his playing very powerful. The recording has a little bit of hall ambience to it, and the balance of the instruments is excellent, although Jones is a little quiet but still very full. It is likely that the rest of this show, as well as 3/16 and probably all of the Euro and US 73 shows, are available in complete soundboard form. It is conspicuously odd how the 3/16,19,21,22/73 soundboard releases are all relatively similar cut fragments of the extended guitar portions. If you have heard the audience recording of this show on Savage Beast?s "Essen 73" you would probably know that the first half of this show is as incredible as these portions from the second. Many favor 3/16, and moreover 3/24, as being the best of the Euro 73 shows. The fact is, every show Zeppelin performed in Austria and Germany in March of 73 is a gem and they each have a characteristic to them that makes them wonderful in their own rights. 3/16 is high energy and satisfying, 3/17 is smooth and more stretched out on the improves, 3/19 is tight but also very heavy and charged, 3/21 is technical and frantic, and 3/24 is the tightest and most confident overall. But 3/22 is perhaps the technical and inspirational peak, especially for Page and Bonham. It has all the playing and energy of the other shows, but with so much more charisma. Page?s guitar work and Bonham?s drumming in Dazed are both unbelievable. They pull out phrases and rhythms the like of which they hadn?t done before and will not achieve again on this tour. Every improvised note is played with an authority and power that is superiorly different from the other shows. Old riffs and passages have a new color to them and the solos just flow endlessly. It is as if they each kept going further and further out on a limb, pushing the envelope of their abilities. By 3/24 they will still be great, although just a little less frantic and more refined, never to really play with this amount of spirit on this song this way again. Too bad. Where was this playing during 75-80 for Page? As for Bonham, it is a shame that he didn?t make it a permanent habit of playing as loose and crazy as he did during this tour. Maybe it was the German beer. A really technically and inspired amazing show, and one of the best shows period. (Mike Magnon Jan 02)
