| Note | My first New Year's Eve Phish concert! Caleb and I drove down from Burlington. Quiet and cold night. Scored a bowl of soup at a church supper next door to the hall. When we went in and saw so many people (about 1,000 I think) I came to the realization that they were going to be BIG. A lot bigger than just a regional New England success. We had a great time and there were a bunch of tunes that I'd never heard before (Guelah Papyrus was one). Caleb and I scored coffee and tried to keep each other awake on the drive back to Vermont. We ended up crashing at my parent's farm near Mt. Ascutney and got back to Burlington on the 1st.
I remember the show being awesome (or was that the herb talking?) but the show doesn't hold up so well listening to it years later and compared with other shows from the same period. Some of the playing lacks that extra 'sparkle' and someone forgot to tune the piano, which is irritating to listen to whenever Page is playing it. Solid 3 set show. Complete. |
