J-Card CommentThis is another great set from the Bob Meyer. It documents some of the great moments of the 74 tour. Bob did a great job setting this up and making great selections. Here is his post to RMD... [RMD 11/14/2001 2:115pm] The project 74 that I started a few years back is winding down (http://home.adelphia.net/~dyln61/project_74.html). Although the project will never be deemed "finished" I have what I feel are some of the best sounding, lowest generation collection of tapes that exist. I figured it might be time to give a little taste of the 74 tour to those whom are interested or just plain curious. I tried to figure out for a long time the best way to represent Dylan's greatest tour. Should I make it like a fantasy concert format (too corny)? Should I make CDR's of the all the different songs that were played (it's been done, although I could make a better one). Should I make CDR's of the best sounding shows ( I find mixing soundboards and audience tapes together a bit annoying)? So I made a 3 CDR set of what I personally think are the greatest performances of the tour recorded form the audience. I also tried to make it as easy on the ears as possible. I also threw in some bonus tracks that some folks might never had heard before. Here's the format I chose: The first CDR is of Dylan and The Band's electric set. The second CDR is the best of the acoustic set. The third CDR is the best performances by The Band. Disc three also has some rare soundboard recordings as BONUS TRACKS (some NEVER before booted!!) . Bob Dylan & The Band - Project 74 "...I just wanna see if it's really the explosive kind...."-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The goal: To archive all 1974 Bob Dylan & The Band shows onto CDR from the best possible sources (including The Band sets). What I'm looking for: I already have all 40 Dylan sets from this tour on analog tapes of various quality. What I'm looking for now is Master or close to master tapes to burn onto CDR in hopes of archiving the best possible sources from this tour. I would also like to get as many sets by The Band as possible. What is out there: These shows, complete with The Band's sets, are out there. Some don't circulate (according to Krogsgaard ). But they will shortly. Corrections welcome : 1/3 Chicago 1/4 Chicago 1/6-early Philadelphia 1/6-late Philadelphia 1/7 Philadelphia 1/9 Toronto 1/10 Toronto 1/11 Montreal 1/14 - early Boston 1/14-late Boston 1/15 - Washington,DC 1/16 - Washington, DC 1/17 Charlotte 1/19-early Hollywood 1/19-late Hollywood 1/21-Atlanta 1/23 Memphis 1/25 Fort Worth 1/26-early Houston 1/26-late Houston (incomplete) 1/28 Uniondale 1/29 Uniondale 1/31 - aft- New York 1/31 - eve- New York 2/2 Ann Arbor 2/3 Bloomington 2/6-early Denver 2/9 early Seattle 2/9 late Seattle 2/11 late Oakland 2/14 early LA 2/14 late LA I do NOT have all of these shows w/Band sets (check list below). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Coming soon: New Band sets from open reel tapes Project 74 - PhaseII - the digital "remastering" of the CDR's -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Arrived but not yet burned on CD: All caught up for now!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What I have already archived on CDR: Generation of tape is noted when possible. Feel free to inquire about quality THE BAND - COMPLETE Wodstock August 1969 show - Taken from several sources including acetates - GREAT STUFF (1 CDR) THE BAND - Rehearsals - A & R Studios - 12/71 - uncirculating PA tape of 1972 tour rehearsals w/horns.
