Source info:
Neumann KM-184s > dbx 386 tube preamp d/a converter > Sony TCD-D7 (44.1 kHz)
(mics mounted in brackets about 4 inches below ceiling, about 12 feet up,
about 15 feet in front of the stage) (Spaced pattern, about 8 feet apart.)

Soundboard direct outs (two) > Tascam DA-P1 (xylophone mic #1, bongos)
Soundboard direct outs (two more) > Sanyo minidisc (sax & vocal, xylophone
mic #2)

Transfer:
Soundboard minidisc transfer: Sanyo minidisc > Audiomedia III soundcard
(analog connection) > Macintosh G3 > Bias Peak 2.62 (saved in dual-mono
format) > Bias Deck (see below)

DAT transfers: Tascam DA-P1 > (coax spdif connection) Audiomedia III
soundcard > Macintosh G3 > Bias Peak 2.62 (saved in dual mono format) > Bias
Deck 2.7.1 (6 tracks synched, split over 9 channels and mixed to 2 track) >
Bias Peak (indexed, saved in .wav format) > Shorten for Mac 1.1a3 > Yamaha
CRW2100 (no digital audio extraction)

Peak volume is -2.99 db about 5:09 into Track 1 of disc 2.

Editing notes: No noise reduction was performed on this recording.

Volume of first 13.5 minutes was slightly too high compared to rest of
recording. Volume was reduced about 2 db, and slight limiting was also
applied.

NOTES: There are a few technical problems with the source material. Skerik's
wireless mic setup kept cutting out, so there are some gaps in the
soundboard source -- the audience tape confirms that there are times when
his sax apparently dropped out of the mix.

It appears that one of the xylophone mics was turned off (on stage) for a
long stretch of time (about 30 minutes). It later reappears in the mix.

In addition, the cable between the soundboard and the recording deck
apparently also was cutting out (although it's possible that the
intermittant cable was between the onstage mic and the soundboard). At least
one feed was affected: one of the xylophone mics (on the DAT). Skerik's feed
also appears to have been affected (at different points in the mix), but
it's not clear if it was because of my cable or more problems associated
with his wireless transmitter.

There is a lot of distortion, pops and clicks on Skerik's sax feed. Best I
can tell, most of the sounds were intentionally caused/initiated by Skerik.
Hard to tell what's intentional and what's not!

Most of the deficiencies were resolved during mixing, but there are a few
points where it's obvious that the sax or xylophone slightly drops out of
the mix.
