| Tech Note | My Review for 11/22/97 Hampton ******************************** Overall : A Sound : A- Show : A+ ******************************** Set 1: Not listened to fully. Frankenstein> Isabella is a very good way to end set! Set 2: Absolutely amazing! This set just brims with jamming. Cuts in with Trey saying "What is that horrible cannabalistic chant?" To start, Halley's Comet is 25 minutes. Not my favorite of jam songs (not an expected jam song), this version soon ends up in creative-land. Definitely not boring, although towards the end, I'm wondering where they are going wit it. Still amazing when you are listening, and you have to ask your self what song this is (is it STILL Halley's?). Transition into TA-WEEZER is nice. Standard good Tweezer, pretty quick before ending up in type II-land again. Heavy jamming here, creative stuff by Page, but Trey-led. Hold up, was that a BEK tease? Yup, band goes into Black-Eyed Katy, very smooth. My favorite of the "structured" jams. In Katy, the band reaches a really high peak, and after about a minute, the HC>tweezer>BEK is over. :( They still have a little while before they can call it a night, so...... what's next? How can they keep up the energy after that peak? Piper. great version, longer ending than usual(?). Then a Killer Version of Antelope. I love it when antelope closes a second set. It seems that it BELONGS there. crowd goes bananas as trey sings the tag line, and the set is over. SOLID set!. I keep wishing that the sound is better. It's not horrible but there's definite room for improvement! SBD? :) |
