Tech Note | This is NOT the same version of the show as is currently available on u2bloodredsky.com (as of 27th Jan 2002). That verson includes track 19 but omits tracks 21 and 22. The recording itself was also made by someone else. NOTE. For completeness, track 19 from the other recording is included in the folder as a Zipped MP3 file. It has not been adjusted to match the rest of the recording and under NO circumstances trade this file as a decoded audio track. Source info Tracks 01-18 1st Generation copy of master, traded in 1989 with the taper Tracks 20-22 2nd Generation copy of master, original copy I had is lost. Luckily I had used this material as filler on another (forunately high quality) cassette. The tapers identity is confidential. He unfortunately does not recall what equipment he used ( he was never that professional) but he was standing about mid-way between the stage and the central PA and mixer section. The recording unfortunately suffers from "enthusiastic but not exactly talented" singing along by a female member of the audience on tracks 2 and 3. I have limited the damage by adjusting EQ to eliminate this as much as possible. As is typical of mid-eighties walkman-type recordings, the original playback speed was some 9 per cent too fast. This has been rectified digitally. This has resulted in occasional "warbling" in tracks 11 and 6. Again, EQ has been adjusted to compensate for this. The original recording has a very trebly sound. Again, the EQ settings I used took this into account. There are unusual breaks in the recording, between tracks 8 and 9, 17 and 18 and 18 and 20. At least 2 of these are due to tape changes and fades have been added. The lengthy break between the main set and the encores has been edited down as it was incomplete anyway. The performance is not lost but there are abrupt changes between these tracks. The Performance A set comprising pretty much all the covers U2 performed on the Joshua Tree tour. A very party atmosphere, more so than some of the other outdoor concerts on the UK leg of the tour. Track 6 features a "guest guitarist" from the audience With You Without You is an excellent version, extended a little even beyond the "Shine LIke Stars" and "Love Will Tear us Apart" snippets, ending on a section that goes something like "You are my True Love" Guest champagne girl on Party Girl was the late Kirsty McColl.
