Tech Note | Notes on Big E from the Justice League, 6/29/02, SF CA
The Justice League has a roomy stage with the PA at floor level rising
up to about 8 feet in height. I had my PZM on the stage just to the right of Jim Stieffel's mics, slightly closer to Ray than Tal. Given
that the difference was only a foot or so, I don't believe that accounts for the weakness of Tal in the mix, but he seems even quieter
than I remember him being at the show. The house mics were placed at
thet top of the stack, near the mid/high segment of the speakers. The
taping gear was located on a small table at the audiences left corner of the stage.
Mics used:
Crown SASS Mk II PZM stereo condenser mic on the stage.
Crown CM 700 cardioid condenser mics, one each side, on the mains.
Mixer:
Shure FP-42 power supply/preamp/mixer.
Deck:
Tascam DA-P1
Transfer:
Turtle Beach Montego II Plus>Soundforge>wav/shn(MKW ACT).
Tal does become more audible as the evening progresses. Bobby & Ray,
as well as Eric Levy, are all very audible in the mix, with Ray's
guitar being a little too hot. Go figure.
