Tech Note | This source is a purported SBD/Aud matrix > cass/0 > DAT (as noted at http://www.freedumb.net/sbd/sbdlist.html), however this lineage is questionable.
There is a cut at 45:07 in the first set, however this sounds like a SAT cut or dig as opposed to an analog tape flip (I left this cut as it existed from the original rather than editing, because it occurs during a song (Scent of a Mule). Another question is the analog generation because there is zero perceptible analog hiss any in this recording. Also, analog tapes tend to stretch as they are used, and people usually get between 46 and 48 minutes per side of a 90 minute tape. 45:07 is considerably an odd place for an analog flip to occur. Also, there is no noticeable cut at around the 90 minute mark in the show (whre the next tape flip should occur).
As for my skepticism for the SBD/Aud matrix, there are moments when I would swear that it is true, however the noticeable echo and reverb normally associated with audience recordings in indoor arenas (MSG in this case) is quite noticeable. If this is not an SBD/Aud matrix the source would likely be an FOB, since the audio presence in very "up front." There is a circutlated FOB Schoeps CMC3/mk4 soruce from 12/29/94. This 12/30/94 source may very well be from same rig and taper, howevr this is pure speculation.
** editing notes **
Removed cut at the end of Poor Heart (this was at the 63:13 mark in the show, probably originial DAT > CD converstion since the next track (Tweezer) is over 21 minutes long. I would put the total disc time over 74 minutes.
Removed a .5 second skip at the end of Poor Heart, probably a DAE artifact since that the end of the CD-R was EAC-ed.
Removed the fade and cut between YEM and Purple Rain
Removed the cut during the crowd noise between Tweezer Reprise and Frankenstein |
