Recorder 2: LIVE IN ROTTERDAM (MAF/R&D) April 3, 1971 Sportpaleis Ahoy, Rotterdam, Netherlands
Lineage: AUD(src2)>Live In Rotterdam LP>PCM(declicked)>CD-R>EAC>SHN

Recorder 1 is a mono recording that was transferred to analog stereo format in the lineage. The left channel alone is used here. The right channel is full of broken connection crackling sounds. Recorder 2 is genuine stereo. Arranging the recording R2-Rch left, R2-Lch center, R1 right, seems to extend and complete a stereo image. Some live mix panning can be heard to flow across these recorders. The performance is reinforced with a more complete mix in a wide stereo image. The songs and fragments captured by the mono R1 alone are restored as well as possible for a complete show. Imagine you got a seating upgrade at track 4 if it helps.

The recordings were cleaned of the worst artifacts like mains hum and thumps from hitting the microphone. The louder parts overwhelm the recording devices a bit leading to the classic 'inside out' audience recording with the quiet sections now louder than the originally louder parts. All mastering and restoration work from speed correction, synchronizing recorders, artifact and noise removal or reduction, eq surgery and correction, and dynamics work using Reaper DAW with Waves & UA plugins and iZotope RX spectral editor. Recorder 2 was upsampled to 96k with SOX prior to work.
