Venue Notes : Nice sound unless you were in the first 5 rows because the PA stacks were then directly overhead and the sound would be from the stage amps only! Once a small 4,800 seat theater that is now a Mormon Church. 
Recording Notes : My first recording with the Sonic Studio Mics. I was so close to the stage I was nervous and did not realise I had the limiter set on the DAT deck so for the first 30 minutes I struggled to get levels with no avail until of course I found my problem. I caught Chris's harmonica after his solo in "Thorn in My Pride".

Notes:  There were many level adjustments throughout the first 30 minutes of this recording,
particularly at the beginning of No Speak No Slave, near the end of Thorn's Progress, and at 
the beginning of Thorn in My Pride after which the levels finally settle down for the rest of 
the show. I attempted to smooth out the more abrupt changes and match the volume of the 
beginning of the show with the rest.  You will hear some anamolies unfortunately.  Also, 
the levels jumped dramatically just after Thorn in My Pride began and I had to edit out about 
5 seconds of clipping, digi-static, and drop outs. I crossfaded this cut and only a very 
minimal amount of music is missing.  Despite all of this, we have another great performance by
the Crowes, and thanks once again to Datfly who captured it for us.  I applied a slight high-
end shelf during EQ'ing.  Both discs were crossfaded so as to be seamless on longer media.

The Black Crowes

This was the second time the Black Crowes came to Hamburg. After their great debut at Grosse Freiheit 36 the year before, they had released SHAMC in the meantime and the whole city had been waiting for them to return. I got this tape from the guys who taped the show. If I remember right (it is almost 20 years ago again, time flies)...they worked on their recording in their homestudio before circulating these cassette copies. What they did exactly, I donÂ´t know. I guess some equalizing and some editing, there is at least one strange cut (a short repeated section in the Jam, shortly before the rock drum groove starts) in the recording. Also, i seem to remember that they said this was a mix of sdb and aud, which I find hard to believe, but well....Sadly the first three songs are missing. The band started on time i guess....I am trying to get in touch with one of the guys at the moment, to get a better gen copy but for the time being this is the best version i have to offer. 

Still an enjoyable recording, I hope you like it.

Not a bad sounding AUD recording at all, Chris' voice & vocals are very clear and the band sounds really good. There is one very minor gap just before Jealous Again starts at the 0:10 mark - I believe this was crowd noise removal before the encore starts. No music is lost. I included my EAC log but found no artwork for this show.

Chris was really chatty between songs on this night. He sings the chorus for "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" during the jam in the middle of "My Morning Song". "On That Hollow Day" was played (one of only three times with lyrics). There is a small glitch before the Jam leading into "Thorn In My Pride", and there is a cut @ 12:50 of the same song, about 5 seconds into the harmonica solo.
