Also thanks to Keith Litzenberger for his excellent recoding as well. Thanks to Jay Ashley and Darryl Hinko for their transfer and mastering/editing on the SBD source. And thanks to both Jamie Waddell and Todd Evens for their pristine transfers and excellent editing/mastering on the FOB. --------------------------------------------------------- Notes on the Source Material SBD (shnID = 75772) This is another strange 1991 SBD. Let me explain. Quite a few digital SBD's for the 1991 year are in circulation. I am sure some of you have noticed a sorta strange sound quality to them. What makes them sound they way they do is unknown to me. I'd call them too digital. They tip-toe along the edge of blurry. If I had to guess I would think a portable DAT deck was being fed an analog signal into the line in. And although the levels were set appropriately the deck was overloaded by 'too hot' a feed from the SBD. AUD1 (shnID = 96398) Nice and well balanced FOB. This upfront FOB grabs quite a bit of the sound but not as much atmosphere as you'd like for making a matrix mix. However, this does help the sterile, straight SBD out quite a bit. While it doesn't completely fix the strange "digitally" sound of the SBD it does help quite a bit. AUD2 (shnID = 98392) Another great sounding AUD. I love it when multiple source can be used to make a 5.1 and a stereo matrix. This doubles the options for the multichannel mixdown and also allows for more flexibility in the 5.1. Not just the standard SBD front and AUD in the rear. This also allows me to do high rez mixdown for each of the 6 channels as well as a high rez stereo mixdown of all 3 sources. --------------------------------------------------------- Tech Notes FLAC/SHNs were decoded to wave. Wavmerge was used to reassemble the tracks back to 1 long wave. CEP2.0 was used to align & synch both of the sources. SF8.0 was used for the EQ setting for the CTR and LFE channels. SF8.0was used to perform the hard limiting on the LFE channel. Surcode CD Pro DTS was used to encode to DTS. This incorporates 6 channels of DTS encoded 16/44 wave files. - Mixed by dan@am-dig.com - ISO created 05-MAY-2009 - Artwork by dan@am-dig.com 300dpi - For best results print at the highest resolution onto glossy photo paper. While the Audio-CD standard (Red Book) hasn't changed to accommodate these new sound formats, it is still possible to go around the specification and to put a 5.1 surround recording on a regular Audio-CD. To play a DTS-Audio-CD you must connect your DVD/CD player via a digital cable (optical or coaxial) to your DTS Dolby-Digital receiver. It is not 100% sure that your receiver will recognize a DTS-Audio-CD, so the first time you're trying to playback a DTS-Audio-CD you must do a test to determine if it can. Begin with the volume very low, start the disc and rise the volume gradually. NEVER listen to a DTS-Audio-CD through the analogue audio outputs of your CD/DVD player. Burning Instructions Burn them the absolute same way as you would burn any normal Audio-CD from FLAC files. --------------------------------------------------------- Additional Formats This show is available in the following formats: 1.
