Notes:
The source CDs were given to me back in ’95 or ’96 by a friend. This show is available in mp3 format, but as far as I can tell it has not been circulated in flac (these discs were confirmed CDDA by TLH and spectral analysis).

This show was Mother Hips’ first at the Fillmore, and their second or third at any major Bay Area venue (according to http://www.motherhips.com/setlists/index.htm, they’d played Slim’s and the Great American Music Hall already by the time of this show). At that time the band played with the following lineup:
Tim Bluhm – lead vocals, rhythm guitar
Greg Loiacono – backing vocals, lead guitar
Isaac Parsons – bass guitar, backing vocals
Mike Wofchuck – drums

These first few shows in The City were occasions of pride for homegrown Chico, CA Mother Hips fans, as many of us thought that the band was on the cusp of commercial success (and that this was a good thing). For better or worse, that didn’t quite happen.

For those who have gotten to know the band’s music in the last five or ten years, this recording shows a very different side of them: somewhat rough, driven by a very different rhythm section, and full of youthful energy.

Enjoy!
