Well, I've been out of the loop for a while for a variety of reasons, not the least of which were moving to Chicago and then travelling ~6 weeks for work. Hope you all enjoy this one. If you're not familiar with Luna, they're kinda indie rock/pop with a bit of a Velvet Underground feel. Definitely worth checking out, IMO. Holds ~500 with an open floor and a balcony that runs around both sides and the back. Balcony isn't all that great for listening, but if you want to sit down it's nice. Oh, and good service in the balcony from the roving servers! Oddest thing about the venue: they have a bathroom attendant! No kidding, very strange. Sat dead center in the balcony, which for reference is a terrible place to listen to the show, but a good place to record if the Abbey is jam-packed full. Terrible place to listen because sitting up there you're in a major bass trap, seated-head about even with the bottom of the massive concrete cross-beams and an open space above and behind you that goes up to the full ceiling height. Ran the mics at the base of the balcony to get away from the bass trap, and also extended them out horizontally 6' over the crowd to get a bit closer to the sound source. All in all, recordings turned out pretty well, I think.
