Recently going through some PCM copies of masters that are not available to transfer directly. Soundboard with ambience ("tape mix"). The quality is decent to excellent on all - it starts out a bit ambient-sounding but improves by the end of the second song. Very listenable overall despite the (minor) flaws with the mix in some spots.

Lineage: Monitor soundboard feed + 2 Crown PZM microphones + 2 Nakamichi cm300 microphones and one other ambient microphone mounted on balcony railing > live matrix "tape mix" > Sony TC-WR950 quick auto-reverse deck > Beta PCM (Sony SL-HF900 with PCM-601ESD adaptor).
Transfer: Sony Beta SL-HF900 with PCM601ESD PCM interface (SPDIF digital output) > Macintosh with Digidesign Audiomedia III card > Pro Tools (minor "nip & tuck" edits, normalization & tracking) > AIFF > xACT (FLAC level 8 files with sector boundaries verified).

Notes: This show is tracked to fit on audio CD's but plays seamlessly. There were a few places where PCM-related dropouts and the flips were repaired as seamlessly as possible (mostly inaudible now). Finally some of the song titles are "best guesses" - any corrections will be appreciated.
