NOTES : Wow, this was a crazy show for me ! I scored tickets late and somehow got FRONT ROW seat in front of Allan Woody. So, I brought my rig in to tape which was a small MS one point mic and atlas stand. Well, I was so close to the stage that I didn’t really capture the PA well enough for vocals and during True Gravity some drunk dude literally crashes into me, my seat and my DAT gets knocked down into the floor of the pit. Well, I had my trusty mag lite flash lite and shined it around like a cop, until security came down to toss the guy out of the show. I showed them my front row seat and he was drunk enough to show him his balcony ticket, so he started cussing out security and out the door he went… my ex wife was with me and she was allowed to go back stage during break to retrieve my Sony D7 DAT, it was still recording but the back light wouldn’t work. I rewound the tape and set back up to tape the second set. Ironically, I was blowing pipe weed hits right into Allan Woody’s face almost of which he would smile at me . At the end of the show , Allan gave me his pick and Butch Trucks hopped down off the drum rizor to carefully throw his drums sticks at me …I did get them , but later lost them in my divorce. In fact, the CDR’s I retrieved right at my divorce from a friend that I made copies for hence the fades that were left in this recordings in case anyone wants to burn to disc later. I did get my DATs back after a lengthy court battle but haven’t really transferred them until late 2023. Again, this file is 44.1 kHz … I also re-indexed this show through Audacity to ensure no sector boundary issues from a CDR extraction , etc. Oh, as for the Bonus Track, I included an instrumental , Elizabeth Reed , from my Master DAT of the show. It’s what I heard front row… if someone wants to merge my source with this one , please let me know …again, my version has vocals in the background since I was so close … again, I don’t have all of true gravity because of the crash… I will say I know of at least one other dat source of this show … AKG-391 but don’t have it

as for the show, wow pro sound quality from a set of Nuemann mic’s into a pro DAT deck at 8th row center. I was extremely lucky to find a copy of the show from Jack who taped and provided me with a DAT clone of the show. It maybe the best sounding aud tape I’ve heard by the ABB but there are some good one’s out there… this one could pass for a FM broadcast almost… some great playing on this show , this was on a sunday since the Kentucky Derby is always the 1st saturday in May… as I’ve mentioned before the ABB have a love for Louisville , even Greg gets the inflection right on the pronunciation , it’s “lou-a-vull” to us in the city ! They bring some A+ playing since the Palace theatre is so ornate most bands play very well for the respect of venue … we get some repeats from the year before with two blues tunes, “worried down with the blues” and “stormy monday” both played in Louisville in 1995 which I find a little unusual… this has been circulated before through e-tree but the ABB pulled all of there music from such websites… this is a new transfer … the allman brothers band is one of the best bands of all time !
