The 11/20 gig was memorable for a lot of reasons, but it was the first show for which I can remember the Lone Star selling advance tickets (or any tickets, for that matter). The Lone Star Cafe was located at the corner of 13th St. and Fifth Avenue in NYC, directly across the street from the New School For Social Research, Graduate Faculty. In the day, I would go to grad school classes, at night at the New School and walk across the street to the Lone Star for a few sets of music. You would go through revolving doors off Fifth Avenue and there was a little table where they'd collect your money. The Lone Star was probably my favorite place to see music, along with the Village Vanguard, in the early and mid-80's. The Lone Star was a long, skinny room running along 13th St. with the bar and stage jammed in the end towards Fifth Avenue. The stage and bar had one or two rows of tables between them and just enough room for people to squeeze by to the back of the room. There was an exit door at the end of the bar which emptied onto 13th Street. After the door, there were some more tables running to the back of the room. There were also some tables upstairs, but the ones along the rail were so close to the stage, you could barely see the band. I used to set up back by the exit door next to the bar for most shows. Doug Sahm, Rick Danko and Levon Helm and a few other acts were semi-regulars there. One Doug Sahm show I held the first table next to the exit door for Chet Flippo (then Rolling Stone writer, now CMT exec) while he went backstage to talk to Doug. He thanked me profusely all night with many beers and shots of tequila. I sat at the same table to the Nevilles' show on 11/20/84. Thanks for posting this show and good wishes to all those affected by Katrina, especially those from the Big Easy. I left the original text and I would like to thank the original seeder in 2005. A great show from the Neville Brothers, you have a second chance to grab this one, don't miss it. Enjoy lolita The date of this performance is likely 7/29, 7/30, 7/31 or 8/1 http://books.google.com/books?id=eeUCAAAAMBAJ&lpg=PA79&dq=%22neville%20brothers%22%20%22lone%20star%20cafe%22&pg=PA79#v=onepage&q=%22neville%20brothers%22%20%22lone%20star%20cafe%22&f=false
