Some historical comments about this recording and concert: From an Internet Archive review of a tape identified as 1973-01-01, but actually this same show. "Just to set the record straight, this recording is in fact a live board mix. It was recorded onto a cassette master, using a Stevenson Interface sixteen-channel console (where only fifteen channels were working). The drop outs and missing parts are due to years of playing the master cassette on substandard tape decks, and getting chewed up in the process. Considering the lower quality recording devices used, it still is one of the best live/Lowell George recordings out there. The sound engineer is Mike Hatchett, who worked there until joining Little Feat on the road. He has two album credits. One is on 'The Last Record Album', and the second is on 'Hoy, Hoy'." "Little Feat headlined Richard's September 17-20 with Mother's Finest opening. They were also scheduled to appear at the Graham, AL, Music Festival on September 15, 1973, and at Landis Field at Georgia Tech University in Atlanta on September 16, 1973. -Greg (gv0000) Audio retoration by plaz: The mix is odd at times, but I did nothing to change this as it is an integral component of the recording. The mix comes togther during "The Fan' and then stays pretty consistent throughout the rest of the recording. There has been a lot of discussion as to the date of this recording, but I received it at shown and have no reason to doubt it. Note: The happyjack version (5-73 at a different location) is the same material. I confirmed via correspondence with Hatchett that this material was recorded at Richards's on September 17th, as marked on his old master tape. ---- Post Review by plaz: - tape fading is evident, about 30 years worth, turn up treble to find the cymbals - needs some bass boost from t01 - part way into t05 - On Your Way Down is somewhat muddy, but it gets brighter from R&R DR. onwards - mix changes from song to song, so leave it as is, or do custom EQ for each track or set of tracks (identify and document mix change points) ** check the other version(s) for fills for tracks 11 and 13) -- 1973-05 and 1973-01-01 which are sourced ffrom the same tape
