"Sounds Of The Seventies" programme :: M-FM

~*~ Mk1 version, carefully remastered fixing various issues, with NO EQ or NR ~*~

01. Spanish OD
02. They've Started Complaining

Total Time ::: 9:44

::: VG+ radio studio recording. Check samples for rejection, inspection, outright impatience.
::: Warts: Repaired dullspots & dropouts but surely missed a few. Mk1 version somewhat muffled & canned sounding (both fixed in the Mk2).
::: CONTRAST CLAUSE: This is the muffled Mk1 NO EQorNR remaster. The MUCH crisper Mk2 EQ'd w/no NR remaster may be found elsewhere.
::: Mk1+Mk2 COMPARISON: Differential EQ paid off BIG here, Mk2 FAR better & more natural sounding than the muffled Mk1.
::: 1971-01-14 was the recording date. Programme broadcast 1971-02-05. Alan Black was the moderator.
::: 4 track session. "Boat In The Morning Mist"&"Best Suit"missing from this source. Can anyone provide them &/or upgrade these?
::: This is a LOSSLESS version of this source for this recording, obtained from the taper.

DimeTravel 869 ::: MANY thanks to the original taper, Ace Rimmer. Thanks to DIMER Les_Mountain for not only providing the gooods, but doing the uploading efforts after remastering! ::: Corrections welcome ::: Still a mystery why the band's first released outing, "A=MH²" (1969 Decca Nova), didn't re-write the musical universe in terms of sales upon its release, but perhaps the sea was too deep for land creatures. "Retribution"(2nd) & "Gestalt" (3rd) are fascinating as well & you'd be well-advised to delve into them posthaste, whether revisiting or diving in with newfound fanaticism. Not to forget the posthumous (band-wise, that is) "Blues" album which is ostensibly their first (recorded Mar'69) & remained unissued until Little Wing Of Refugees flogged it limited edition style on CD&LP in '94. I recall it as somewhat less experimental than their other efforts. Les_Mountain is a C-H major fan & did the heavy lifting tracking down lossless versions of these 2 songs. We are extremely fortunate they are the unissued songs of the session - neither of them has ever appeared officially on any C-H release, AFAIK. "Spanish OD" is a classy ragapsych number & "They've Started Complaining" is a stunner - fine vocal work with an extended, heavy, outstanding, RIPPIN' guitar workout that should put most any head's head in gear & ends in serious dimentia. You couldn't ask for more for out of only 2 songs - a great addition to the C-H canon. It would be GREATLY appreciated were someone to come forth with more live/unissued material by this group, regardless of quality. Inquiring ears NEED to hear. Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees
