Original notes for the soundboard only tracks: a+ audio and performance!
there are not many (any?) sbd's of lowell's last
tour, and this is a wonderful recording.
its was also my birthday show, though i was only 6,
never forseeing the impact that this great (underrated!)
singer/songwriter/guitarist would have on my life.....

Goody's notes:
Up til now, an incomplete set, broadcast on FM and captured for posterity, has been presented mainly as 6/26/79, Alexander's, Browns Mills, NJ. The FM portion of this reconstruction circulates with that date. (To confuse the issue, the FM is listed as being on the 620/79 at Alexander's as well on the Live Archive, while attendees to that show confirm its June 26th date.)

The audience recording used here to fill in what was missing from the FM even had a date of 6/22/79 at Alexander's...

Here's the important part -

The bits by the announcer with a very distinctive style in the intro and encore calls on the audience recording mentioned above matched right up with that Alexander's recording, leading me to believe that what's 'known' to be Hard Rock Café (soon to be called Stage West, hence its listing online with that name) on the 22nd could actually credibly be Alexander's on the 26th!

Filling in the missing bits -

The Featbase listing includes the opening instrumental, Hank Crawford's 'The Peeper', on the 22nd at Stage West date, missing on the FM transmission but included along with what are also found here from the set, ripped from said audience tape dated the 22nd, are several of the missing FM tracks, the tail end of 'Easy Money', 'Rocket In My Pocket', 'A Apolitical Blues', 'Two Trains', part of 'Dixie Chicken' and the encore after an incomplete 'Spanish Moon', filling in that missing ending, transitioning into the instrumental 'Lafayette Railroad'.

The date on the audience tape has more than likely been misrepresented all along. That, along with the tracks from the incomplete FM source, is what we have here, leading me to strongly think more along the lines of this completely being Alexander's on 6/26, which would have been the site of other high profile shows carried via FM, such as the meat of this reconstruction.

The fog of history rolls in and rolls back out again. This date and venue has always been in dispute, but I think this makes the best case of all of this being on the 26th, which means that there's very likely no 'real' Hard Rock Café archive in circulation after all. As the discussion rages on, at least I can provide a more complete show here for y'all to listen to!

The inspiration for this reconstruction was from another earlier attempt at this which I ran across many years ago by another fan. While I can't remember who that happened to be, I honor that concept here with what I hope succeeds in improving upon it.
