Weather Report Joe Zawinul-keys Wayne Shorter-sax Jaco Pastorius-bass Alex Acuna-drums Manolo Badrena-percussion Paramount North West Theater Seattle, Wa [AUD] May 27, 1976 from master cassette (remastered)! runtime: 76:53 setlist 1) elegant people 8:04 2) scarlet woman 7:27 3) Barbary coast 7:26 4) bass solo 4:18 5) cannonball 6:15 6) black market 7:19 7) drums & percussion 5:06 8) Zawinul/Shorter duet (-?-/in a silent way 4:18 9) Dr. Honoris Causa > directions 9:24 10) lusitanos 6:47 11) Gibraltar (band introduction at end) 10:24 Do not sell this recording. Share freely, losslessly and gaplessly. this post is a REMASTER of (I believe) torrent #108951 from valleybird which fell off the tracker awhile ago. I DL'ed it in 2007, one of my first DL's from dime and possibly the 1st Weather Report one. This is still one of the best WR auds I've ever heard. (there was also a torrent #237105 which is another remaster of that torrent, but does not say what was done to change it from the original. I have not heard that one.) as of this posting in Dec. 2009, both those torrents had fallen off the tracker. This is definitely NOT a remaster of torrent #237105, although the info file is from that since I don't have the info. file of the 2007 post I got this from, this contains most of it if not all of it. I have added song times, partly in case I re-edited something, but I think I left all the tracking as it was, unless there was a track 12 for band intros at the end, which was indicated in the remaster post at #237105, that is part of track 11 here.) the reason for my remastering was to reduce the loudest claps between songs to make it a smoother listen, since that was the only thing I found in the original post that I felt needed alteration. Weather Report music can go from quite loud to rather quiet and the clapping can get quite overwhelming even in loud parts. The clap reducing was limited to between songs and a couple of quiet passages. this was a nice recording as it was originally posted, maybe a little better now. this was one of my first remasters, so the notes of exactly what else I did (if anything) to this are not as thorough as with more recent remasters. I did not save the remastered FLAC files as I have with my more recent remasters, (no HD space for them) so this one has a CD > CD extractor step in the remaster lineage. (download > wav > CD > CD extractor > flac > remaster upload.) recorded by Pat Lee (taperpat) 2 ECM 18 N mics hand held in the 15th row center>sony 1525D cassette deck> maxell ud c120 cassette>Nak Dragon>phillips standalone cd recorder>eac>cool edit pro>flac>wave>remastered with Wavelab 5.0, using 32, 48 & 64 bit solution plug ins>normalisation to -0.01 db>CD Wave tracking>Flac Frontend (level 8) DON'T FUCK MUSICANS! THIS RECORDING IS NOBODY ELSES PROPERTY THAN THE MUSICANS, AND, OR THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER (S). THIS NOTE IS ADRESSED TO THOSE PEOPLE ONLY, WHO SELL CDRS, OR MAKING BOOTLEGS. NOT JUST A FEW MUSICANS ACCEPT TAPERS. ONLY A FEW MUSICANS MAKING THE BIG MONEY, WHILE MOST OTHERS HAVE TO FIGHT HARD NOWADAYS TO SURVIVE WITH THEIR MUSIC. HEY, IF YOU LIKE THEIR ART, WHY NOT SUPPORTING THEM IN BUYING SOME OF THEIR RELEASES,OR BUYING A TICKET FOR ONE OF THEIR SHOWS?" remaster notes: there wasn't a whole lot to complain about with this recording at all, but I decided before saving this fine recording to apply some ICPVR (individual clap peak volume reduction) which took alot of time but worth it to keep the between song applause from drowning out the music, while not reducing all the applause and causing a dropoff in the volume of the recording. most of the loudest claps were reduced about 3-4 DB's, and the sections reduced for loud claps were all about .003 of a second or less. this way the continuity of the overall volume is maintained and the clapping is not overwhelming. I only do this for my favorite auds, because it takes alot of time and patience to do about 400 ICPVR's, but well worth it for a Weather Report audie of this quality. taperpat did a very nice job with this. I have not used any EQ or sound processing, may have done some minor level adjusting, don't think this needs anything more at all, and was happy enough with this result to post my remaster as an anniversary post. this was one of my first remasters that came out good enough to be worth posting. It was probably done about 2 years before posting, before I was uploading or knew to keep track of all needed info for a remaster. If I've left anything needed out of here I will add it to the description text. I did this same (ICPVR) treatment to my WR 1980 post from Boston, so if you've heard that one you have some idea of what ICPVR can do for a clappy, but otherwise nice quality audience tape. (especially with music like this that has loud and rather quiet/subtle passages.) additional lineage here: dime DL (FLAC) > WAV (remastering in soundforge) > CD > CD extractor (WAV) > FLAC 6 > upload.
