Notes:
Allen and I sat at one of the little round tables 5-10 feet from the stage a bit right of center.
Allen took care of the recorder and I held the single microphone.
The Sony cassette deck was for taping lectures at school but Allen had found a much better use for it.
If you were close enough and it wasn't too loud this little recorder made decent sounding tapes.
This recording is an example of one of those nights when everything worked.

There was someone next to us who was yet to be sold on the new bass player in the band.
Sort of heckles him at the beginning of his solo but quiets down after Jaco starts grooving.
I think we all got the benefit of this heckling as Jaco shows us the new bass players talents tonight.
The heckler never says another word after the first solo.

The tape ran out at 46:19 and lost an unknown amount of time before being flipped over.
Music came back at the end of a frenzied sax solo that couldn't be spliced to the previous section without an abrupt break.
My splice removed an addition minute or so of this to create a seamless transition (found at 2:34 of track 9).

Removed individual claps that were too loud with the Audacity wave editor.
A time consuming task to mitigate the audience response like this but it is worth it in the end.
I was new at holding the microphone and quite a bit of rustling and bumping noises have also been removed.
No equalization or noise reduction was used to alter the recording.
Hope you enjoy this new transfer of an early Jaco Pastorius performance with Weather Report.
For historical reference only and not intended for resale or any commercial use.

Final note:
Thanks to Allen for the loaning me the master cassette, Goody for the pitch offset and Bombdiggity for the phase alignment.
With their help this should now be the ultimate version of this concert recording.
