From the first of two consecutive evenings at the Hammersmith Odeon,
both of which also featured Skakti with John McLaughlin and the Billy Cobham-George Duke Band,
hence the short running time of the set.
Weather Report were the last band on stage this night.

Sony TC-152 analogue cassette deck from Sony ECM99 stereo mic.

Lineage:
Original cassettes have since been transferred to 1/4" tape at 15IPS, then to DAT at 48k, then to CD-R (via SADiE hard-disk editor) and finally as a single FLAC file coded with Media Monkey. File Size: 325Mb.

Very little tape-noise and no peak distortion. Only very occasional fuzziness betrays the cassette source. The balance of the band is good, with even Pastorius's bass being clear. There is hardly any intrusive audience noise. But remember, this IS an audience recording.

The recording has been edited over the years (sorry), but no music has been lost.

NOTES (from orig. seeder)
There were no introductions by the band.
The opening track fades in, but nothing is missing.
Applause between tracks 2 and 3 has been edited out, so the segue heard is not natural.
The percussion duet was to cover a fault with Joe Zawinul's keyboards.
Applause between tracks 5 and 6 has been edited out, so the segue heard is not natural.
Track 7 is obviously not an improvisation, but my titling of it as "Short Stories" is questionable.
