Little Things * = w/audience sing-along to "If You're Happy And You Know It" Jambands.com night: Miracle Orchestra, Moon Boot Lover, Percy Hill, Disco Biscuits, Lake Trout, Juggling Suns, and Jiggle The Handle all played on this night. Sector 9, Ulu, Conehead Buddah, Blindman's Sun, and the Living Daylights all played the previous night. Oteil Burbridge and/or Butch trucks sat in with most of the bands. Taper notes: BARN90 completes my uploads from the Jambands.com weekend 6/4-5/99 at Wetlands. Many more acts played there that weekend, but it seems that this is all I can dig up from my collection. Maybe one day Bill Mulvey will dig up some from his collection, or Jim Crichton's recordings will surface, as I believe that between the 3 of us we got the whole thing recorded....this is just what's in my personal collection. This weekend's music turned out to be quite a lengthy (but worthwhile) little side-track in my BARN series -- getting a bunch of previously uncirculated Wetlands shows out there, and beefing up the archive.org collections of some bands that have precious-little (high quality) representation. About this set in particular -- I have to admit that I wasn't a huge fan of Lake Trout -- their sound was a little too "electronic" and for me. That said, I did enjoy listening back to this set quite a bit. Even though Oteil Burbridge and/or Butch Trucks sat in with just about every band over the course of this weekend, neither of them seem to have graced Lake Trout with their presence, unfortunately. This particular set appears to be the only one that I've worked from the jambands.com weekend on that is already on archive.org, albeit in a different form -- from a soundboard source. Interestingly enough, the "soundboard" in the Wetlands basement was just a small mixer powering some speakers. Not a lot going on there, and I'm sure not everything was mic'd up, but the current soundboard recording sounds quite good. My recording is sourced is from a pair of mics hung from the ceiling just a bit in front of the band, and definitely well represents what it sounded like in the room (and it sounded good and loud), but the vocals are a bit buried. It might be interesting to see what someone who is so inclined might be able to do with matrixing both recordings. Recorded as a co-production by Scott Bernstein, Bill Mulvey, and possibly the late, great Jim Crichton (RIP). Transferred, mastered, and posted by Scott Bernstein (5/25-7/7/2011).
