Hello Everyone:

IÂ’ve seen these guys several times, most recently on their Traveling Circus tours.  On this tour, the Crows are covering some of their favorite artists as represented on the new album.  Not exactly a new concept as theyÂ’ve always paid tribute to bands that have influenced their sound.  They cover familiar material from Dylan and Fairport Convention as well songs from bands IÂ’ve never heard of.  All nicely intertwined with classics from the bands own catalog.  Overall a very nice, robust recording with few audience distractions.  The show was somewhat abbreviated do to the opening act and some curfew rule (see rant below).

Rant to follow:  I havenÂ’t been to an MGM show at Foxwoods in some time, primarily because there hasnÂ’t been a show worth seeing.  IÂ’m beginning to sense a trend in artist dissatisfaction with this venue.  It wouldnÂ’t be the first time IÂ’ve heard an artist complain about the curfew here or about the lack of enthusiasm from the crowd.  Why would the casino impose a curfew is beyond me.  It canÂ’t possible have anything to do with getting patrons into the gaming area sooner could it?  If IÂ’m there for the show and paid top dollar for my ticket, you just pissed me off by cutting the concert short, IÂ’m not giving you any more of my hard earned cash.  If I leave the show happy and satisfied, perhaps IÂ’ll choose to continue the celebration with some drinks and food.  IÂ’ve done this, me and my friends are your demographic!  This was a Friday night show, absolutely no reason to have us out by 10:30!
I’ve been to shows where the majority of the front orchestra seats were occupied by lethargic “patrons” with little to no enthusiasm for the performers.  Sheryl Crow made reference to this at her show here last year.  I remember a show where I was in the second row and security, in front of the stage, was prodding an older gentleman in the front row to wake up!  WTF!  What kind of a message does this send to the band?  I understand how perks work and if you drop serious coin at the tables, you’re afforded certain privileges.  Having said that, management might consider spreading out the complimentary seats amongst purchased ticket holders to at least give the illusion that the majority of the audience is actually interested in the band.

I guess thatÂ’s enough for now, just had to get that off my chest.
