Mastered: Soundforge Pro 10.0b - *All file manipulation in Soundforge done at 24 bits*.  Volume normalization, sample rate conversion 48khz to 44.1khz using iZotope 64-Bit SRC set higher than "Highest Quality" setting w/anti-alias filter, then dithered back to 16 bits using using iZotope MBIT+ with Ultra noise shaping, High dither settings. Tracked in CDWav.

Ah, the good old days, before all music was instantly available over the internet to be heard (and watched on YouTube) instantly everywhere.  We all had a few friends who would clue you into a new up-and-coming band....and any New Orleans band with great buzz around them is ALWAYS exciting to me.  So earlier in 1997, a few different friends had clued me into the up-and-coming Galactic, telling me that I had to check them out (Dan Debeer, in particular) -- describing them as a funkier Medeski Martin & Wood, very Meters-influenced, but that the star of the band was really the drummer.

So this was my first opportunity to see them after hearing the good buzz.  And they lived up to the hype -- a strong band (was the leader the guitarist, or the organist, or the drummer?), solid originals, great covers, and a vocalist who came out most of the way into each set, did his couple of tunes, and went away.  Strange, but interesting!

BARN65 is not the best Galactic show I've ever seen, but very very strong!  This is a snapshot of a hungry band on the way up and absolutely essential listening to a Galactic or New Orleans funk music fan in general.
