Source: Neumann TLM-103 mic's (setup at the front
of the second level, about 15 feet from the stage) >
Lunatec V2 > DAP-1. There were no stage mic's at this show.

Recorded by Robbie Dunn, with his comments following:
"When I went inside I asked the soundman about taping, and
was told that that they had someone coming who they would
let tape on stage, and all other rigs would have to setup
elsewhere. For most bands that play at Ziggy's, the tapers
setup just in front of the soundboard...at the back of the
second level, which is about 25-30 feet from the stage. Since
I didn't expect a packed house, I setup at the front of the
second level, about 15 feet from the stage. About 5 minutes
before the band was coming on, one of the crew comes up to me
and asks if I want to move my rig on stage (apparently the
expected taper was a no show). Since I was the only rig there,
and had a bunch of decks patched out of it.... and the band
would be coming on in a matter of minutes, I decided to stay
put. He then asked if I could run Steve's deck. Obviously I
said sure, and he comes back and hands me a D8 with a "wall
wart".... No cables.... no tapes..... The soundman snakes a
drop cord from the board, we pull out some extra blanks, and
others find extra mini cables to at least get something on tape
for him......"

"I normally use a Neumann SKM-184 > HHb PDR-1000 for taping most
shows, but borrowed a buddies Neumann TLM-103 > Lunatec V2 > DAP-1
for this show. It was my first time using the V2, and once I got
things dialed in (there were some level adjustments in the first
tune), the tapes turned out great (still don't know why the Lunatec
used those stepped increment volume/level controls). I smoothed out
the level fluctuations when I did the DAT > CD transfer, and the
show fits nicely on 3 discs..... There is a lot less "chattiness"
on this recording than on others I've heard from this tour
(particularly SC), but there is the occaisional beer bottle crash
that seems to be unavoidable...."
