Noteworthy Comes A Times

This is a collection of noteworthy versions of Comes A Time played by
the Grateful Dead. It is a revision of a collection originally
circulated on eTree in June, 2008.

The original collection was closely based on a list put together by
Eric Wybenga and published in his book _Dead To The Core: An Almanac
of the Grateful Dead_. This revised collection includes sources from
Eric's list that were omitted from the original collection because I
did not believe I should seed them at eTree. It also includes several
other versions of Comes A Time that were recommended in the
comments on the original collection, as well as versions that I
thought should be added. Remember, "noteworthy" does not mean
"best". In particular, I've included some versions just to illustrate
how the song sounds over the band's lifetime. I welcome your ideas
about what should be included or dropped from the collection. There
could easily be a version 3.

When Comes A Time was played as a stand-alone song, or when the links
between it and its neighbors were straightforward, I included it as a
standalong track. When it was played as part of a longer jam,
especially when a jam where there was no clear place where Comes A
Time started or stopped, or when the build to Comes A Time is firmly
embedded in the previous song, I have included longer jams.

The track names are self-explanatory: they list the date of the
performance, the SHNID of the source, and shortened names of the songs
included in the track. The music in these tracks is exactly the same
as the music from the source indicated by the SHNID. When necessary, I
joined the songs into jams using "shntool join", I snipped white space
from the end of the tracks and sometimes added fades using WaveLab
6.0, and then I compressed the files using "flac --best". I used
shntool version 3.0.9 and flac version 1.2.1.

If you have the first version of this collection, you should be able
to rename the old files (I'm using six digit SHNIDs now, so you'd just
add a '0' as the first character in the old SHNIDs) and then leech
this torrent into the old directory -- you should just get the changed
tracks.
