Notes:

(1) I preferred the original Hinko SBD (shnid=18862) over the "upgrade" (shnid=18896) because the compression aspect of the remaster degraded the audio, in my opinion.

(2) Jim Wise patched out of Steve Rolfe this night. They both ran Nak 700's. I preferred the Tim W. transfer of the Wise source (shnid=8765) over the Miller transfer of the Rolfe source (shnid=94269) for the following reasons:

1: While both sounded VERY similar, something about the sound of Tim's transfer appealed more to me - fuller sound? no EQ? not as "sharp" sounding? is my mind projecting these ideas? Probably. I'm still not quite sure if it is actually "better" sonically because, again, they sound very similar. I'm sure Miller and/or Tim could explain which is better because of their direct experience on their transfers.

2: While the above reason left my decision somewhat arbitrary, I did, however, notice instances of light tape flutter, or warbles, during different songs of Miller's source that were NOT present in Tim's source. From this I concluded that Wise's actual master tapes were of better quality, overall, than Rolfe's master tapes, and this solidified my decision to go with Tim's source. HOWEVER, there were some aspects of Miller's source that were definitively better than Tim's source: (a) Miller's had a couple audience sections, and a small portion of Drums, that were not present in Tim's transfer, which I spliced into the matrix (listed in note #3) (b) Good Lovin' and Brokedown Palace, for some reason, were of worse quality in Tim's source, especially Brokedown - the tape gets fluttery and has instances of miniscule dropouts. I was able to work through Good Lovin', but all of Brokedown is patched with Miller's source.

(3) The AUD portion of the set 2 Tuning track is provided by shnid=94269, transferred by Charlie Miller and recorded by Steve Rolfe. It also provides the "Mexican Bobby" moment in set 3, an audience moment after Althea, a partial patch in Drums (a tape flip prevented a full patch), and all of Brokedown Palace.

(4) There were a few similar cuts and/or tape flips in both AUD sources, such as the small cut at the beginning of On the Road Again.

(5) I suspect a cassette generation in set 3, since sets 1 & 2 have less hiss and are much crispier. For this reason, I assume sets 1 & 2 are "SBD > MR > DAT > CD > EAC > SHN," and set 3 is "SBD > MR > C (no dolby) > DAT > CD > EAC > SHN."

(6) Bobby's faux Mexican accent after Samson is downright awful.
