Dave Matthews Band July 12, 2002 Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre Charlotte, NC **************************************************** * This show is not in standard 16bit audio format. * * This recording is encoded in DTS audio. It can * * only be played from a cd/DVD player and decoding * * device with DTS capability. These discs should * * be burned just like any other standard audio cd. * * If all you hear is hiss and static when you play * * them, your system is not compatible. * **************************************************** Tapers: Henry Hart & John Stanfield Front Channels Location: Section 3, Row D, Seats 3 & 4 Source: Neumann kmi84 > Sonosax > Sonic AD2k+ > Sony M1 Conversion: Sony M1 > Audiowerk 2 > Cool Edit Pro v2.0 Rear Channels Location: Section 3, Row D, Seats 3 & 4 Source: Earthworks SR-71 > Sound Devices MP-2 > Tascam DA-P1 Conversion: Sony M1 > Audiowerk 2 > Cool Edit Pro v2.0 Center/Sub Channel Location: Section 3, Row D, Seats 3 & 4 Source: DPA 4061 > Sound Devices MP-2 > Sony SBM-1 > Sony M1 (left & right mixed to mono) Conversion: Sony M1 > Audiowerk 2 > Cool Edit Pro v2.0 The center/sub channel source did not start recording until a few minutes into the first song. As a result, the channels fade in a few minutes into the show. Mix/Encoding The .wav files were appended and synced in Adobe Audition v2.0, tracked with CD Wave and encoded with Surcode DVD DTS v1.0.23. All files were left as .wav files due to the fact that encoding them to .flac only made them 10% smaller. It sounds like the stand was getting moved which makes the stereo image go from left to right, back and forth, throughout the entire show. The making of these 5.1 recordings during the start of the Summer 2002 tour was some great fun. It is of great personal satisfaction that the 4+ year wait for a DTS encoder and the completion of this project has come to an end. The process of creating these multi-channel mixes is long and tedious, so we hope you all enjoy! Compiled by Henry Hart on 1.2.03 & 1.27.07
