Notes:
In 1998 my 8 year-old daughter, Aradia, was a big fan of Peter Himmelman's kids' CD "My best friend is a Salamander". My 5 year-old son, Zane, loved it too. We used to sing along to it all the time, especially in the mornings when getting ready for school. When I heard Peter was coming to Eugene, I emailed him and explained that my daughter loved the title song so much that she'd like to sing it with him when he came through town. He emailed me back and said he'd be glad to. The concert was fun and Aradia sang in her cute squeaky voice. Several months later I received a phone call asking if my daughter was Aradia.
Turns out there was a big fan from Colorado there who had asked him if it was ok to tape the show. Peter apparently said yes and this guy was allowed to hook up his cassette deck to the soundboard. He taped it and when listening to it later he heard "Gordon Kelley". He looked me up in the phone book and called me to offer me a copy of the show. Of course I wanted it! A year or so later, I put it on CDR. At the time I didn't have the know-how or software to track it properly, so each track was one side of a cassette tape.
Fast forward to March 2002: I copied the show onto my Mac and separated it into individual tracks.
Warning to purists: This show has some very noticable staticky digi-noise on a few tracks, but it's not present throughout most of the show. This is not a perfect recording by any stretch of the mind. The noise is most present during the loud parts, so I'm inclined to think it's from either the original master cassette recording or from when I transferred the cassette a few years ago. I have lost the original cassette by now, so I can't go back and see if my original has the noise on it. It's mildly annoying in places, but overall doesn't detract from the fantastic sound quality of the rest of the show. I find it quite listenable, and I hope you do too.
