ALAN GILBERT LEADS AN ALL-RUSSIAN PROGRAM AT TANGLEWOOD, FEATURING KIRILL GERSTEIN ON PIANO
Kirill Gerstein joins the Boston Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Alan Gilbert for Rachmaninoff's technically demanding, complex and melodic third piano concerto. After the intermission, Gilbert returns to lead a thrilling performance of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, a turbulent, ground-breaking artistic work which quite literally changed the face of 20th century music.
