FINAL BOSTON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CONCERT OF THE 2024 TANGLEWOOD SEASON: BEETHOVEN'S NINTH
On August 4, 1938, Serge Koussevitsky conducted Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 for the inaugural performance in the Music Shed at Tanglewood which bears his name. A bit more than 86 years later, the BSO keeps with tradition, capping off its summer season with a bit of the old Ludwig Van. Here, they deliver a sumptuous and thrilling performance of Beethoven's "Choral" Symphony. Ludovic Morlot steps in to conduct the orchestra on short notice for Hannu Lintu, who recently sustained a leg injury. Also included is the rarely-heard Bruckner motet, "Ecce sacerdos magnus," which is led by BSO/Tanglewood Festival Choral Director James Burton.
