STYX - NOTES FROM THE BAND 1996
Pensacola, 06-Sep-96
Hello Florida... Tonight we played in Pensacola to many friends and family. Great sounding room and particularly Todd's drums were poppin' onstage. It was inspiring. I cranked down the tone control on my Explorer and the creamy tone got me going, especially on the "Crystal Ball" solo. My favorite personal moment, except right before "Fooling Yourself". I sang "Happy Birthday" to Katie Wohlford (Eddie's daughter) who just turned 16 the day we were on the "C. Rose". Ed took her to get her driver's license this morning and let her take his car. He rode to Pensacola with us and the first place she drove to as a licensed driver was to Pensacola with her girlfriend to see our concert. I have known her since she was first born.
Dennis told me that as soon as he returns home from this tour, he will go full speed ahead with his musical. It will be in a workshop in Chicago, so that he can personally supervise the goings on. The music is so GOOD. If you have the CD, you know how powerful it is. I am looking forward to seeing it with a cast in costumes on stage with props and staging and all that. I can only imagine how Dennis feels seeing it take shape...
The folks from the fishing trip ALL showed up and we had a good hoot and did some good back slapping. What a great group of people. And because of the photos and story on the web site, my cousin Ronnie looked us up because he knew we'd be here tonight. Haven't seen him in years. Every day I am hearing from folks who log on and check out site, and get to feel a part of our world. I tell you, it is really cool to see the first effects--the "global village" we have all heard about. What a great new way to come together...
Tomorrow, Orlando. 9 shows left... Tommy
