According to Hooterollin' Around blog, the Dead played a show at the athletic fields. "The Dead flew into Monterey for the Pop Festival on Saturday morning. Disliking what they considered the "commercial" atmosphere of the event, they set up shop at the college across from the fairgrounds where people were camping.
