it’s not often that a true rock legend performs at an intimate Philadelphia-area venue, but that's exactly what will happen on Thursday, March 17 when former Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Black Country Communion vocalist/bassist, Glenn Hughes performs at The Sellersville Theater in Sellersville, PA. Joining Hughes at this performance will be special guests (and virtuoso blues guitarists) JoAnne Shaw Taylor and Jared James Nichols.
In a musical journey that spans nearly five decades, Hughes is a true icon in the music world. His vocal skills are best defined as an eclectic mix of hard rock, soul and funk. From his early years in the band Trapeze to his his tenure’s with Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, Hughes’ presence and style struck a chord with a generation of fans during the 70s and 80s. Following years of excess and drug abuse, Hughes finally sought help for his addictions in the early 90s. Returning to full strength to begin a solo career that has taken him through to the present day.
Over the years, Hughes has also taken part in several super-group projects - most notably, Black Country Communion, where he fronted a power trio consisting of himself, guitarist Joe Bonamassa and drummer, Jason Bonham. The trio released two hugely successful albums that both went to #1 on the UK album charts. Hughes' last band incarnation was the short-lived, California Breed; whose successful debut album was released last year.
Hughes’ Sellersville performance will be part of a multi-city North American run that will showcase material spanning the legendary artist’s historic career. For classic and hard rock music fans, it promises to be a night to remember.
