Will Oldham - vocals / guitar / percussion
Cooper Crain - synth / FX
Robert Frye - flute / saxophone / ukulele
Dan Quinlivan - synth / FX
no one knows quite what to expect from this show
these shows
there are three of them, after all
and it’s will – so surely there will be much variation across the three nights
so does that mean, each evening, that we’ll get a bajas set, a bonnie set, and a third collaborative set?
in the end, it’s only the latter
and it’s gorgeous
but hard to see how they’ll change it up much from night to night
but maybe that’s not the point
it’s intensely meditative
several people around me struggle with the necessity of abandoning themselves to it
they shift awkwardly in their seats
they giggle nervously
they frown at each other, furrowing their brows
but the only real way to deal with this is to lay back in it – like a salty ocean on which you can bob freely with no fear of sinking
and maybe three nights of it will have a cumulative effect
maybe, when we leave on thursday, we’ll all notice that we’re floating an inch above the ground
or maybe not
only time will tell
in the meantime... enjoy
