Taper's show review
"I know Echolyn are big favourites here, so I thought I'd give you a
quick update on their London show last night. I should say I'm not a
big fan, I sometimes find their music a little to clever for me,
almost Art for arts sake if you like, but I was interested enough to
go and see them live and glad I did. Early reports of ticket sales
being low were confirmed with only about 100 people present, but it
was those who missed it who lost out, not the few that went. I
couldn't give a set list, other than to say Brittany, As The World,
67 Degrees and "Cheese" with some new stuff was played, 95 minutes in
total. Considering the band landed about 6am and where feeling a bit
jet lagged, they played really well and also seemed in good humour.
Chris and Tom came out before the show and seemed more excited at
meeting some fans than the fans did at meeting them, and the fans
were also excited don't get me wrong. Two nicer guys you could not
wish to meet, cracking jokes and listening as much as talking, they
blended in so well you forgot they were on later. Absolute highlight
for me was Suffocating The Bloom, probably the most straight forward
song played in terms of structure, but a real spine tingling
rendition. One of those moments where you have to remind yourself to
keep breathing because you hold your breath so as not to disturb the
moment. Good luck to them for the rest of the tour, and thanks for coming
over. Tom, you faced the correct way all night!"
