Anonymous Collection 1 Cassette #117 features two sets of recordings made at Bill Monroe's Bean Blossom Festival,
Bean Blossom, IN-1971: 1) a fiddle jam with Kenny Baker and a number of unidentified players; the portion of the
jam on Side A finds the fiddlers accompanied by an unknown guitarist, while Side B adds an unknown banjoist to the
mix; the last half of Side B feels a bit unfocused, and 2) part of a performance by Jim & Jesse & The Virginia Boys
(featuring a teenaged Carl Jackson on banjo; he was 18 years old at the time of this recording!). Jim & Jesse
McReynolds feature several recordings from their 1969 "Saluting the Louvin Brothers" Epic LP and their 1971
"Freight Train" Capitol LP. Too bad we only get four songs featuring their one-of-a-kind vocal harmonies, Jesse's
famous mandolin cross-picking, and Carl Jackson's sophisticated banjo playing.
