This has been traded as 'Jackson 1979'. Concert took place the week before Star Trek the Motion Picture was released by MF as a 45 rpm single. Tour ended on 12/2/79, so this must have been in mid to late November sometime, but no 'Jackson' appears on the schedule.
MF mentions that this is the 'late show', and this sounds like a small club or bar. A few members of the audience cheer that the Ohio State Buckeyes are in the Rose Bowl, but they don't cheer for drummer Jim Rupp being from OSU. This does not sound like a college auditorium or college crowd, and so this is probably not the OSU gig on 11/27/79. MF played the Ramada Inn in Evansville, IN on 11/29/79 (more likely than OSU to have multiple shows), and that's the best guess for this recording from what can be heard on the tape.
Update 7/17/2016: MF played a date on 11/25/1979 in Columbian Township, MI, which is near Jackson, MI. This must be the correct date.
