We end with The Harder They Come (the first - and best - reggae film starring Jimmy Cliff) and the groundbreaking band Bob Marley & The Wailers in the British pop program The Old Grey Whistle Test. After the rise of reggae in the 1970's, through Bob Marley and punk, we dive into Dancehall. Reggae officially died with the death of Bob Marley in 1981, and in its place came the wild sounds of dancehall to overtake the U.S.. We follow the rise and fall of Shabba (Mr. Loverman ") Ranks in the U.S., and we hear how reggae influenced hip hop and the emergence of new roots music in Jamaica. Interviews with: Shaggy, Yellowman, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Luciano and Lady Saw.
