These are the almost "legendary" Jon and Richie wrote in Richie's mother's basement, "next to the washing machine", like they often stated in later interviews. Most tracks feature an acoustic guitar along with vocals, on some Richie uses an electric guitar, which sounds pretty rough and edgy, but gives the songs a cool touch. Once or twice also a keyboard appears, Tico and Alec aren't present at all here. All the tracks were recorded on a small tape recorder.
