1. "Edge" w/Buck Henry - PBS 1991 (7:12)
This is a short, humorous piece done for a PBS series produced
in conjunction with the BBC. Buck Henry goes to a Grateful Dead
concert at Shoreline Ampitheater in Mountain View, CA on August
17th, 1991. Buck chats with Deadheads as well as Jerry Garcia
before the show. Mickey Hart shares some of his thoughts.
Excellent shots of the band performing "Help On The Way" and
"One More Saturday Night". Nice to see how a skeptical Buck Henry
gets turned on to the experience. This is a very obscure video.
I have not seen it in anyone's list, nor did I find any info on it
after a very thorough websearch. I could find no referrence to it
in any GD forum or Buck Henry bio including IMDB.
Produced by Sheila Haymand.
2. "CBS Evening News" 9-13-91 & "CBS This Morning" 9-18-91 (7:43)
Watching Dan Rather introduce a piece on the Grateful Dead
is a crack-up. This is a brief report featuring Bill Kreutzmann
and Bob Weir. "CBS This Morning" 9-18-91 is a better report.
This one has more of Bob Weir and Mickey Hart. These reports
feature live shots of "Shakedown Street" from MSG 9-10-91 and
"Beat It On Down The Line", "Big Railroad Blues" and
"Ramble On Rose" from 9-12-91. Mark McEwen clearly has a better
grasp of the subject than Rather. Harry Smith and the female
co-host are pretty clueless.
Produced by Richard Threlkeld.
