This compiliation was originally put together as part of a personal momento of Ryan's extensive touring during 2007 but ended being shared because I was pleased with the way it turned out and thought other folks might like to listen to it. I hope you do.
During the first half of the year, with a notable exception in Chicago in January, the band played mainly stripped down acoustic shows promoting 'Easy Tiger' whilst dipping generously into Ryan's huge back catalogue. For many of the early gigs a skateboarding accident had prevented Ryan from playing any instruments, fortunately the Cardinals (joined for this tour by producer of Easy Tiger Jamie Candiloro on keys) filled any gaps.
Included here are, in my opinion, the best recordings of the best performances of the best songs (available at the time) for me personally. I decided to leave out any between song chat/banter as, though often quite funny, it loses its appeal shortly after the first listen unlike the music.
Ryan Adams fans are a lucky bunch - not only by the quality and quantitiy of records he releases, nor by his constant touring; but also because high quality recordings of almost every show he plays are made available on the internet - free of charge - often within days of the performance (sometimes sooner) by many of his fans.
I haven't done much to the recordings apart from mix them together to give the impression (mostly) that it is one show or set. I've boosted the volume on a few songs and added some bass to enable them to stand alongside the other recordings but that's all.
You can get details of who taped and how at www.archive.org and www.ryanadamsarchive.com where you'll find recordings of the the full shows (and many more besides).
If you enjoy this then look out for 'Out of the Red Cave' a companion disc of the best of the full electric rock shows the band played in the second half of 2007.
Enjoy.
