Comment
Honky-Tonk Ridge (1981-1998)
Really nice compilation, most of it soundboard quality. There are a couple of jump cuts and announcer overdubs, but no music is lost. There's a bit of hiss overall, and the "Live In Texas" section has some "crispy" hiss, maybe from condition of the tape used in previous generation. This shouldn't discourage you from getting this if you're an Ely fan (or not). I decided against fiddling with it to reduce hiss or re-do fades or anything else; this is just a straight transfer. The final interview segment (track 13) is setting up "Nacho Mama," which was broadcast afterward but deleted here as it was the studio version from the CD. By the way, I believe the interview was done at a station at Penn, broadcast on NPR and recorded via Dallas' KERA. This was a gift tape once upon a time; that's all the info I have.
As always, please support Joe and the boys by purchasing their records or attending a concert. Enjoy. On with the show ...
