This show finds Nanci on the second night of a four night run at the lovely and acoustic friendly Bass Performance Hall in downtown Fort Worth. She is accompanied by her long time backing band; The Blue Moon Orchestra along with the full complement of players from the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jeffery Pollock.
This Bass Hall show was part of a season ticket package they offer, so most people in attendance are unfamiliar with the artist they are watching which makes for a very quiet environment.
Besides the full orchestra accompaniment with Nanci another unique thing to mention about the show is; just before intermission, Nanci quotes the late Texas author Mollie Ivins her favorite Ivins quote. "The next time i tell you people the governor of our state is no good and should not be president i hope ya'll will listen"
In a typical Nanci Griffith show this may be widely accepted, but a number of the hall full of conservative Texas seniors seemed to take offense as a spattering of boos grew.
When she reappeared for the start of the second set she was heckled and on reply a number of attendees headed for the exit even after explaining she was a native Texan herself and was just quoting a Texas literary legend. I stayed with a smile on my face and the tape still rolling!
